Why We Built a Smaller Thing First

Before the next full product, we wanted to test the simplest possible version of the idea.

Even Realities

Before the Even Realities G1 released, we gave ourselves a deliberately narrow brief. Strip things back to basics and find out whether the most fundamental everyday display still earns a place on someone's face.

That became the G0. We chose two functions and stopped there: the time, and directions. We left out Teleprompt, Even AI, Translate and Conversate entirely, not because they were hard, but because including them would have answered a different question than the one we were asking.

A smaller thing teaches you faster. With nothing to hide behind, every design decision had to stand on its own, and the feedback we got was about the fundamentals rather than the feature list. That clarity is exactly what we were after.

The Even Realities G0 was a $250, small batch limited edition released in January 2024 before the Even Realities G1 and offered by personal request. It accessed time and date, plus limited connectivity for navigation data, with no AI and no third party services, which accounts directly for the lower price point. It sold out in June 2024 and shipped with none of the later software (Teleprompt, Even AI, Translate or Conversate).
